Here is an opinion on having an “objective” at the top of your résumé. I agree, it is incredibly silly and pointless, but in the corporate world, Human Resources want to see it. What strange objectives have you seen or used on résumés?

I think that it's more important to have a highlight of qualifications at the top of your resume. An objective is rather generic and has no real purpose. As an employer, I think it's more important to see related skills right at the top.

    Something like:

    Highlight of Qualifications:
    - 5 years of experience as a Financial Planner
    - Experience managing high net worth portfolios
    - Certified Financial Planner
    - Fluent with popular software applications

It gets right to the point that most employers are looking for. Rather than a prefabricated meaningless objective.
