My Wachovia checking account received the two small verification deposits from Emigrant Direct, which was the next step in opening my account with that bank. Unfortunately, when I originally signed up, I submitted an email address I no longer used. After reactivating that mailbox, I called Emigrant Direct’s customer service to have them resend a required email message.
It only took a couple of minutes on hold before speaking to someone. When I had the CSR on the phone, she helpfully resent the message. I received it less than a minute later and continued the process.
Now I must wait for a letter containing my account information to arrive via snail mail. This is similar to the process I went through when originally opening my ING Direct account.
In other news, I received my state tax refund ($150 or so) via electronic funds transfer today and surplus from my latest student loan ($2,200) yesterday. In a few weeks I should receive about $200 from Upromise. I plan to use the “extra” cash to pay down my student loan with the highest interest rate, take care of my auto insurance deposit, and cover the cost of a tire I had to replace.
