Class Action Lawsuit?

by Flexo on May 25, 2005

Today, I received an American Express Card statement in the mail. That wouldn’t be too strange if not for the fact I haven’t used the card in over a year. So I took a look and apparently I’ve been awarded a settlement in a class action lawsuit, and I now have a credit in my account.

I didn’t remember reading anything about a lawsuit, so I did some research. The result of the research is that there is a lot of junk and useless information, and it’s getting more and more difficult to sort it out.

It turns out that American Express postpones depositing and accounting for any customer payment received after 10:00 am on the date due until the following day. I was never charged any late fees, so I’m not sure why I’m affected by this. Now I have to think of something to do with the $0.14. I’ll try not to spend it all in one place.

Also: I apologize for any strangeness with regards to my RSS feed. There shouldn’t be any more problems for now.

For a long time, I had a credit of $.41 on one of my credit cards that I rarely used. It sat there for over a year, and then the card was finally used about a month ago. When I got the statement and prepared to balance it against what I had in MS Money, it appeared as though they had simply wiped out the $.41 credit. I didn’t make an issue about it because, hey, it’s $.41, but still…I wonder if there’s a time limit on that stuff or something.

I’ve had that scenario in the opposite way – I had an AT&T Wireless bill for 50 cents once and I never paid it off (they don’t charge late fees and they tried to screw me over). Eventually they wrote it off as a “Small Balance Writeoff” so they wouldn’t have to send me any more bills.

Flexo – I like the new layout but I can’t find a search box anymore. I’m also running the “NiceTitle” js snippets too, it’s nice.

Thanks — the NiceTitle is a great feature. I expanded it to use more information about a link than the URL if I assign a “subtitle” attribute to the link.

I don’t think I’ve had a search box since the middle of last year, but I did think about adding one in. Maybe I’ll do that over the weekend.
