Holiday Spending, February Edition

Men, get ready to open your wallet (if you haven’t already) for Valentine’s Day. The National Retail Federation conducted a survey about the Hallmark™ Holiday and found good news for their industry.

60.9 percent of consumerism will celebrate Valentine’s Day, with the average man spending $135.67, about double of the average woman. The big gift this year will be jewelry, not flowers. Breaking down the average expense by age group, it’s interesting to see that younger adults’ (18-24) spending has been decreasing. The young crowd has been good at finding ways to please their sweatheart without “breaking the bank.”
