New $10 Bill Circulates Today

If you go to a bank today, you may see the new $10 bill design making its way towards your wallet or money clip. Here’s what it looks like:

There are a number of new security features, including a color-shifting numeral. The U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing has a press release.

So if this is being released now, why the issue date of 2004? Is this an error?

The series date in the image is likely inaccurate. I don’t have any hamiltons in my wallet so I can’t confirm at the moment.
