Increasing Charitable Contributions

by Flexo on April 4, 2006. Charity 1 comment.

I received a call from one of my favorite organizations the other day, and I decided to double my charitable contribution for the year. I’m still not giving enough to qualify for tax incentives, but that’s not my goal. I also give many hours of my time over the summer and fall, volunteering in various capacities at their events.

Last year, I spread the contribution over the course of the entire year, but that probably wasn’t necessary. I’m in a better financial position now — especially with my new job starting at the end of this month — and I could probably swing a couple hundred bucks in one shot.

Good for you, Flexo. I’m impressed that you volunteer your time. I think it’s a lot easier to throw money at an organization than it is to actually put in some sweat equity.
