We didn’t get to look at apartments this weekend. We had one visit scheduled for Sunday, but I received a call Saturday night from the owner saying the rental unit — the top two floors of a two-family house — has been taken. The listing looked very promising; it included a washer and dryer which is one “requirement” I’m getting the idea that I’m going to have to drop in order to find something affordable. The good ones are always snatched up quickly.
Right now, we have our eyes set on The River Club in Edgewater, NJ. It sounds fancy but the building is one of the least expensive in Edgewater. There are of course a number of unfavorable reviews, but that’s to be expected on customer complaint websites. We would have to squeeze into a one-bedroom apartment, but that should be manageable despite my home office equipment.
This has been a truly horrible experience. I am getting to the point where I am growing less motivated to search every day, with Craigslist providing spotty results. I hope that I’ll have something affordable and habitable before my lease expires on June 30.
