Busy Day at Flexo’s Place of Work-ship

by Flexo on June 26, 2006

in Career and Work, Salaries

I apologize for not having much to write today. I’m sure there is much to write about, but today and the next few days I expect to be swamped with work in the office, where I realized that thanks to no overtime being offered, despite an 8% higher salary this year, I’m making less money each month than before the promotion/relocation. C’est la vie.

Funny how that works. Time for another promotion.

Being upwardly mobile refers to responsibilities not salary, at least at first. When I went from hourly to management three years ago, I dropped $4000 anually. But that lasted about a year for me and then we also implemented a bonus system for the salaried employees and because I took that one year decrease, I’m now up about 15,000 from when I was hourly ($6000 from bonuses). That on top of showing the higher ups what I’m capable of it was the best decision I’ve ever made.
