Foxwoods Thanks Governor Corzine

Foxwoods CasinoOn Wednesday I pondered that perhaps New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, by allowing the state’s services, including casinos to shut down, may save consumers money they’d otherwise throw away in Atlantic City. After all, Las Vegas is too far away for most people to spontaneously visit.

I neglected to take Foxwoods into account. The casinos in Connecticut saw an 8% increase in reservations due to Atlantic City’s closing. Never underestimate determined New Jerseyans. So much for saving $20 million a day.

While New Jerseyans were busy traveling to and from Connecticut, the Governor won and the state will see the state tax increase. The full story is here, for anyone who’d like to relive the last few days, which have been difficult for many, particularly state workers.
