Welcome BusinessWeek and Yahoo Finance Readers!

(Note: This post will stay at the top of the index for a while. Scroll down for recent blog entries.)
I’d like to welcome any new readers coming from Karyn McCormack’s nice article in BusinessWeek Online, Best Blogs for the Young and Broke (which has been republished on Yahoo Finance). Karyn does an excellent job discussing the essence of personal finance blogs and younger bloggers. Please continue reading for a special welcome.
For any readers new to Consumerism Commentary, I would like to offer a little bit about me and this blog, which goes beyond Karyn’s brief introduction. Good starting points for my writing are contained in the Best of 2006 (first half) and Best of 2005 compilations. In the BusinessWeek article, Karyn specifically mentions the discussion surrounding the issue of whether an MBA degree is worthwhile. (I hope it is worthwhile on some level; I’m finishing my degree in a few weeks.)
Karyn also mentions the Carnival of Personal Finance, which originated here over a year ago. The Carnival is a great way to discover excellent writing and great blogs focusing on personal finance. (Update: The latest Carnival is now online at MoneyBlogNetwork) Another popular source is pfblogs.org, the personal finance blog aggregator.
Karyn describes some other great blogs in the article, including some of my favorites. Congratulations to those she lists: Young and Broke, MyMoneyBlog, I Will Teach You to Be Rich, my MoneyBlogNetwork co-conspirators Blueprint for Financial Prosperity and Free Money Finance, Frugal for Life, Punny Money, and Stop Buying Crap. Karyn also makes a special mention of AllFinancialMatters’ Question of the Day Marathon.
I hope any new readers will take some time to read some of what I have to offer. I focus on my own experiences without preaching about what I think others should do. Please add to discussions by leaving comments anywhere and everywhere.
