Verizon Wireless Thanking Customers, Offering 100 Free Minutes

by Flexo on August 27, 2006

in Consumer

Girl with a cell phoneVerizon Wireless is thanking all of its customers by giving out 100 free Anytime minutes. You can get them by filling out the required information at this apparently legitimate website. The form asks for your name, phone number, zip code, and last four digits of your social security number.

But is the offer really legitimate? Let me know if any current customer gets anything other than an invalid response when entering information.

Update: Consumerist says that this offer is valid, but only for “merit” customers. Give it a try to see if you qualify. I don’t use all of my available minutes, so I think I’ll skip this one.

Continue reading for the full “terms” of the agreement.

Subject to Customer Agreement and Calling Plan. Customer must be current in billing. One-time “100 Bonus Minutes” credit can only be redeemed by calling 1-866-378-1537 or by logging onto www.verizonwireless.com/thankyou by November 30, 2006. Bonus minutes will not be automatically applied to the account without calling or logging on. Minutes will expire after 60 days. Unused minutes lost. Usage rounded up to next full minute. Cannot combine with other offers.

  • You are right. No luck for me. Here is what I got:

The information you provided is invalid. Please check the Mobile Telephone
Number and last 4 digits of the Social Security Number and try again.
If you are still having trouble, please contact Verizon Wireless at 1-866-378-1537
Monday through Friday 8:00 AM–8:00 PM or Saturday 9:30 AM–6:00 PM.

I called and it was legitimate. I have a family plan which is $80 (at the threshold mentioned by the other blogger), and was put on the primary tel# holder. Don't really get it since its shared minutes anyways, but nevertheless supposedly on the acct.

Call the #, disregard the "up to 45 min wait", press "1". I went straight to a rep. good luck, gman

Why keep an offer of FREE THANK YOU minuites on your website when it OBVIOUSLY is OUT-DATED? When going into your website to see how to get my Bonus Airtime of $15.00 I came across the complimentary min. and looked to find out the offer was good only in 2006. You need to UPDATE your web site and offer more to your customers who use verizon religiously. Thanks!

I have had Verizon Service ever since I was 12yrs old. Ya'll have always been reliable. I had to get a Verizon Pre-Paid phone, why do ya'll only give the "free minute" offers to contract holders? We people with Pre-Paid needs offers like that as well.
