Mapgirl Moves Her Fiscal Challenge and Makes the Switch

by Flexo on November 10, 2006

Mapgirl, the blogger behind the excellent personal finance blog, Mapgirl’s Fiscal Challenge, has moved from BlogSpot and Blogger to WordPress. I’m very excited about the move because I enjoy her blog and it will hopefully be more stable on the new server and because I helped her move through my “Get Away From BlogSpot” project.

By the way, I’ll be opening up the “Get Away From BlogSpot” project again sometime soon to help excellent bloggers stuck on BlogSpot get some free hosting. The project was fairly successful last time, but I have some ideas to add for next round. I’ll post more details in the upcoming weeks.

It’s been quite an evening. I moved off Blogger. I configured the iPod Nano I won from the IndexCreditCards.com blog traffic contest. And I gave myself a manicure! (A girl’s gotta do something while she does software installs!)

Anyone reading this on Blogger who wants to get off their unreliable servers should take up Flexo on his offer to transfer over. I’ve got some good tips for making an OPML file for your blogroll import. :-)

The offer of free space is very cool of you Flexo! Where were you when I started my site up? :)

I’m still stuck on blogspot, and it’s no fun.

I would like to have my own “.com” but I am a bit unsteady about that.

Does that translate into a lot of setting up time? I don’t like blogger much, but I don’t want to get into something that will just eat up all my free time.

Any advice here?

It depends on how much time you want to spend. You can have a blog set up on WordPress on DreamHost in a very short amount of time, unless you want to play around with the templates.

Consider me a candidate when you offer the free hosting deal. Thanks. :)
