I’m the Chief Financial Officer of My Own Life

My friend J.D. asked me to write a little about how and why I assemble and publish my monthly financial updates and how the idea of looking at your personal finances from a quasi-business point of view helps gain perspective. What resulted is now a guest post at one of my favorite money-related blogs, Get Rich Slowly. I’ll eventually publish it here as well, but please read my story at GRS.

  • I loved your story. I have always tried to apply this concept of being a CEO to my life as well. However, I have struggled to steer my ship with the clarity a CEO would demand. I have been debating whether or not to publish my net worth on my blog, as many other PF blogs do. This article has cemented the importance of monthly publishing.   • Cool way of conveying that "Taking responsibility for yourself' is the key. It ain't easy though you make it look easy,( to analyse your own self!!). For many of us, it takes a hard knock when we are able to go back to our drawing board and analyse the situation. Mostly it is a roller coaster ride, expending all our energy and gaining nothing.
  • No IPOs, but I'm not averse to people sending me money. :-)
