Steve over on his blog, Adventure Money, tagged me, so according to the rules I must come up with five things my readers may not know about me. I’ve been avoiding this for a few days, but I think at 1:30 in the morning I might be in the right state of mind to tackle this assignment.
So if you’re interested in discovering five possibly useless facts about me, by all means, continue reading. Keep in mind that I still must be somewhat discreet; this is an anonymous blog. (Some of you know my true identity, but people who know me in real life generally don’t know about Consumerism Commentary.)
1. I studied music education in college. When I was in third grade, I liked my guitar-playing, beekeeping teacher, and I decided I wanted to be a teacher. When I was in high school, I narrowed that down to the profession of high school music teacher. I love studying musical scores and conducting ensembles, and I would probably still be teaching music if it weren’t for the horrible school systems.
2. In high school I was involved with the theater program as an actor in the plays and musician in the musicals. My most memorable role was Selsdon in Noises Off. I was asked to portray Horace Vandergelder in Hello, Dolly! without auditioning but I turned down the role to perform in the pit orchestra and be the assistant director. My best friend successfully auditioned for the part, but he wasn’t very good. (He knows it.)
3. When I was young, I was a big fan of the British science fiction program (or programme), Doctor Who. I recorded every episode on three separate public television stations and built up a huge library of VHS tapes. During one pledge break, I made my parents call and donate to the station so I could talk to Peter Davison, the actor who played the Fifth Doctor. I asked him who his favorite “companion” was, and his answer was Nyssa. I think the two of them had something going on off camera.
4. The first CD I owned was The Wall by Pink Floyd. It was purchased at a store called, like the album, The Wall. That store was previously known as Wall to Wall Sound and Video and has since been acquired by the owners of f.y.e. (for your entertainment), and assumed the same name. The Wall offered a lifetime guarantee on its CDs and provided small blue stickers to place on jewel cases. The blue sticker guarantee was still honored by f.y.e. and I used them a few times to trade up for new rereleased — or even remastered — editions many years after the CDs were originally purchased.
5. I am, in all likelihood, lactose intolerant.
Proper procedure would be to tag another blogger (or five) to lightly pressure him into writing similar posts about himself. I will skip this part, but encourage anyone who wants to write five things other people may not know to go ahead and do so.

What instrument did you play? Or if you play more than one, which did you specialize in?
I’m picturing Jack Black in “School of Rock”, playing your music to “Stick it To The Man”!
dimes: I specialized in clarinet, but I play a variety of different instruments.

But did you also learn how to keep bees?
Nyssa?! She was lame. Tegan was much better. I was also a fan of the Leela from the Tom Baker days. Someday I’ll probably be in a meeting where someone says something annoying, and I’ll threaten to cut their heart out.
Saving Advice: No, I learned nothing about beekeeping. Definitely not my thing.
Mme X: Leela was good. I think my favorite was Jo, from the Pertwee era. She was cute, if my memory serves me right. Ace comes in at a close second. She had some mysterious undercurrents in her character and Curse of Fenric is one of my favorite stories after Tom Baker left the series.
