Last night as I was filling up my car’s tank at my favorite (lowest cost along my route) station, I was pleasantly surprised to see regular unleaded was “under” $2.00 a gallon. (To be more precise, it was listed as $1.999.) It was similar to the excitement I felt several years ago, probably around December 2001 according to this chart, when the price dipped below $1.00 a gallon. It’s a bittersweet feeling as I’m still not happy I have to pay twice as much now compared to only five years ago, but it beats $2.499 or $2.999 or higher.

Feel very lucky!
People around here are ecstatic to find gas at 2.40 a gallon. We’ll never see gas under $2.00 here. And it makes me mad to see the prices going down much slower than they went up. Crooks!

With oil rising back over $53/barrel and OPEC ready to decrease production don’t expect low prices to stay.

Here in England it costs $2 per litre.
That’s a little over $7.50 a gallon.

$7 is out of control. If you have to pay that much, why not become more friendly with the metro?
