How Captain Kirk Handles His Space Bucks

in Debt Reduction, Money Management

Money Magazine has an interesting feature with money-related thoughts from celebrities — mostly former celebrities — who have learned much through experience since their earlier days. The first example is William Shatner, one of my… favorite actors.

William ShatnerShatner managed to barely scrape by no matter how much income was coming in. He constantly worried about whether he’d have enough money and was concerned about finding the next job. There is a famous scene in the second Star Trek movie where Shatner finally lets the stress get to him, and in his financial despair clenches his fists and yells, “Coin!” The director left the scene in the film.

Anyway, his earlier experiences and mistakes, such as investing his saved money ($500) in Canadian uranium at the worst time possible, led him to a strong anti-debt philosophy.

Money Magazine has short interviews with 21 pop icons covering their money experiences and habits. I might share other interesting ones I find as I have time.
