Apparently ABC has ordered a pilot for a new television sitcom based on the Geico cavamen commercials. At first I found the commercials entertaining (though not very informative), but I don’t think I could handle a television show rooted in something developed by an advertising agency.
What’s next? The Aflac duck getting his own show on Animal Planet? How about the Mac and PC guys from the Apple commercials starring in an update of “The Odd Couple?”
The Wall Street Journal has the story about ABC’s new pilot. While there is no script yet, the show will supposedly follow the adventures of three modern-day cavemen battling prejudice in Atlanta.
If that weren’t enough, the Journal article also mentions a new movie is in development starring the “King” from Burger King. The line between entertainment and advertising is fading, and that’s the only way for advertisers to penetrate an audience that is growing increasingly immune to their more typical methods.

While I hope this never sees the light of day, I do look forward to seeing the hideous stolen pilot on YouTube. :)
I have to admit, I got a piece of junkmail yesterday that had the caveman on the front of it. It was pretty dang funny. Inside was a caveman newsletter where they continue their fight against Geico. I was thoroughly entertained by JUNKMAIL!
The King is a damn scary character. I hope it’s a slasher flick.
Sorry, not interested in the cavemen, the King or the duck…BUT…the the Apple & PC guys might be pretty good.
I think cavemen series could be hilarious, a lot could be done with that, but Burger King sounds horrible… yuck.
