When I was an undergraduate, I was in a fraternity. When I say that to people, I always provide a quick qualification: it was more like a music service or honor society than a fraternity. We didn’t have a “house,” and most of us didn’t do the crazy things you see in movies.
While I held an office for a while, by the time I graduated I would often choose to spend my free time with my girlfriend rather than with the brothers. It was just a case of having so many things going on in my life, and I chose to reduce my involvement with the fraternity to make room for other things.
Yesterday I received a letter that the very prestigious and nearby Westminster Choir College of Rider University has started the process of forming a chapter of this fraternity. They are looking for local alumni to assist with their mission, and participate in their activities.
Unfortunately the letter was sent to me after what sounded like it would have been an interesting concert.
I think it would be exciting to help out a brand new organization.
