My Weekend: Packing and Moving

My choice for a new apartment isn’t the most frugal decision I’ve ever made, and I’m fine with that. The apartments are in a nicer area, they don’t attract partying college students, and they’re relatively new. That shows in the $1,425 monthly rent. The loft area, while increasing the square footage and appeal, also draws more energy to cool or heat the entire apartment. I’ll see that in my monthly PSE&G bill.

Despite all this, and despite the fact that the paint on the walls is evidently cheap and gets scuffed very easily, I’ll be quite happy there.

All that’s left, after a long weekend of packing and driving back and forth, is to move is the larger furniture. This will be handled by a local Two Men and a Truck franchise. They charge by the hour, and I’m pretty confident I’ll be able to have the process take no more—or not much longer than—the minimum two hours.

By this time tomorrow, I should be completely situated in my new apartment, except for cable. I may still have to venture to my old apartment in order to get online until the new cable company can schedule an installation.

By the way, the new apartment has a programmable thermostat, which is a nice touch. I’ve already created the schedule, though the massive amount of work I’ve done so far this weekend necessitated an “override.”

Oh man, everyone is moving this week! Tomorrow or Tuesday we find out when our closing date is – we’re hoping it will be by the end of the week! Isn’t Trent moving soon, too?

Good luck in the new apartment! Hope you don’t take as long to unpack as I did!

Whoa! You moved already? Hey, this means I can come out of hiding now! I know I said I was unavailable for the next 32 weekends, but my schedule has magically cleared for whatever housewarming party you were going to throw. LOL
