I have migrated Consumerism Commentary to a new server. Yesterday, DreamHost was kind enough to upgrade my entire account to a virtual private server (for an extra cost, naturally).
Unfortunately, performance was worse on the new server than it had been before in the shared environment. I had no choice but to spend my evening removing Consumerism Commentary from my DreamHost account. I am now a customer of MediaTemple. The websites remaining on the DreamHost virtual private server should be flying without Consumerism Commentary to drag down their performance, and the new host seems to be handling Consumerism Commentary much, much better so far.
If performance stays acceptable, I’ll likely stay here for a few at least a few months before moving to fully dedicated hosting. For those who are interested, I will be writing an article on the server move. Look for that on Meta Best Blog Win, a blog about blogging.
