Weekly Blog Roundup I, Report Cards Edition

by Flexo on November 3, 2007. Filed under Link Sharing.

My girlfriend is an elementary school teacher in the New York City public school system. Other than this meaning she earns more money for her day job than I do from mine, it also means that time this weekend is set aside for creating report cards for her students.

Here are several recent articles from the MoneyBlogNetwork and beyond that I have enjoyed.

Prisons Found My Wallet. NCN from No Credit Needed lost his wallet some time ago, but it was found recently. Prisoners from a correctional facility were mowing alongside the road and inadvertently mowed NCN’s wallet. The shredded remains were returned to him.

I Told You There Was Big Money in Being a College Advisor! Free Money Finance points out an article profiling Michele Hernandez, a college adviser who manages to get 95% of her clients accepted by their first choice school. She made $1 million last year.

401(k), 403(b), and 457(b) Contribution Limits for 2008. FiveCentNickel was able to dig out next year’s contribution limits. They are unchanged for individuals, but it looks like the aggregate limit which includes employer contributions is increasing.

An Example of Smart Customer Care. Mighty Bargain Hunter shares his experience at Hardee’s. They overlooked his order but compensated him by giving him four dollars’ worth of free food.

How to Get Insider Pricing. This article is a summary pulled together by How I Will Be Rich. Here are some tips on purchasing a car, negotiating a paint job, and purchasing a diamond.

Even Prostituted in India Save Their Money. From Everybody Loves Your Money: “In India, a group of over 900 prostitutes has started their own bank so that they can start saving and, hopefully, pull themselves out of the vicious world of prostitution.”

And that means you’re mostly on your own this weekend, right? When I lived at home and my mom was doing a marathon grading/reporting session, I was pretty much not to other her – though my dad and I were expected to be available in case she needed something!

CFO: I’ll be lending my assistance with the written comments to parents thanks to my “gift” for editing and proofreading, which are not apparent at all on this blog. And oh yes, I will be available to supply the drinks and medications when she gets flustered. She has some unruly students this year.
