Mars: My apartment lease is up for renewal at the end of June, and I expect that my rent will go up. As of now, my cable services are included in rent; that deal will expire at the same time. I expect Comcast -- who has purchased my current cable provider -- will want me to pay full price. Those were the only increases. I didn't have a 2007 budget -- this is all new.

How come some expenses go up drastically after June 2008? Are you anticipating them or did you copy it from 2007 budget?

M.B.: Thanks for pointing that out -- I'll have a chance to correct the calculations tonight, so I'll get a new chart up to fix the error as soon as possible afterward. Glad to have you here as a reader and commenter!

The budget looks great! I would love if my spending was 54% of my income.

One note: your bottom row "surplus after expenses" The amount ($101k) doesn't make sense, I'm not sure where it's coming from. Also, the percentage (54%) is actually what you will spend, not your leftover surplus.

Great blog by the way, I read it every day!
