WTDirect Sign-Up Bonus and Promotion Code: Earn Up to $250

WTDirect is offering a bonus for new customers who open a savings account. Above the 3.31% APY interest rate, WTDirect is offering a sign-up bonus of up to $250. You’ll have to deposit a significant sum, however, and keep the funds deposited in the bank for 60 days.

The bonus is different depending on how high you keep the balance for that time period. See the following chart:

Minimum Balance for 60 DaysBonus
$10,000$100
$15,000$150
$20,000$200
$25,000$250

That’s a significant bonus for not a lot of effort. To qualify for the bonus, open a savings account at WTDirect and use the unfortunate promotion code WTF3SOB.

August 25, 2008 Update: This promotion has been canceled early due to popularity beyond WTDirect’s expectations, according to the bank.

That seems like a pretty good deal; much better than my current savings account at least.

Just called WT Direct regarding this deal more and was told this deal just got out this weekend (8/23-24). Good job Flexo on identifying the deal!!
My only concern is if anybody has had any experience with this bank? I verified it is FDIC member but don’t know about the experience with the service?

Schumia: WTDirect is the online banking “arm” of Wilmington Trust, a large national bank that’s been around for over 100 years. I don’t have an account with them (yet), though, so I don’t have any customer service stories to share.

    Thanks Flexo.

I have subsequently found some discussion at FatWallet: Overall the discussion is very positive, I already applied and waiting for initial funding to go thru..

Harold: That’s a shame. I just received an email from the bank saying the same thing—they’ve ended the promotion early due to excessive demand.
