Ben: "Other Earned Income" is almost entirely from blogging activities.

ABC: Andy helped elaborate my point. One reason I'm hesitant to "jump ship" is the lack of diversification. Almost everything I earn relies on Google, either directly or indirectly. It's not just AdSense. If Google changes something and my website cannot be found by the search engine, the website would appear less attractive to advertisers (despite thousands of regular readers).

While I can continue doing both, the corporate job and the blogging, without going insane, I'll do so. Though the point of insanity may be approach faster than I'd like.

I'd definitely recommend increasing the radius of airports you search from. I'm heading to Oregon to visit my parents in December, and am saving about $150-$200 by flying out of Philadelphia instead of one of the DC airports. While it's a bit of a drive, the flight times make it convenient (early afternoon flight, so I don't have to stay overnight), and to me, it's worth the time. Plus, since I have a Prius, I'm not too concerned about gas costs.

Great to see the analysis (a bit voyeuristic I must admit), but dude you are kicking with the blog income - especially in an economy like the one we have right now. I say if you can manage it do both - work and blog. It diversifies your income streams and gives you the social aspect of working with others. I don't your blog income sources, but if Google goes out of business (which means no revenue from Adsense) then a large part of your income is at risk not to mention the loss of traffic. Now you may be saying how will Google ever go out of business? Well, who thought Freddie/Fannie, AIG, Merrill etc go belly up. Anything is possible in times like now and it is best to have back up plans A, B and C!

I am very impressed that you are earning so much more from other incomes sources as you are from your corporate job!

Is a good part of that secondary income from your blog, or do you have other income streams?

Interesting numbers. If your blog income is basically $100k / yr then I would ask "What are you waiting for?".

I don't think that the extra time available if you quit your day job will necessarily translate into a larger blog income but it will translate into a better quality of life.
