Your list is very hit or miss. First off, don't come between a woman and her chocolate. Definitely don't make your own porn -- how many people have regretted this when an ex posted it for the world to see? In between clothes and nudity are either frumpy undergarments or sexy lingerie. I think most people (or at least most men) enjoy a good seductive strip tease en route to nudity.

Craig: Aren't all holidays "made up," some just being older than others? Valentine's Day dates back to Chaucer's time, but it certainly has been usurped by consumerism. But what holiday hasn't been?

Have an indoor picnic as well is another frugal idea. No reason to go crazy for a made up holiday. Can easily have romantic nights any other night when prices are less.

i'd like to make a pitch not only for making your own porn, but for renting or buying porn at sex-positive and women-positive stores that often stock women-made films that are sex-positive and fun. or buying some fun new sex toy(s) to try out, that could be another great gift (not just on v-day, either).

Okay, I'm sure I'm being slow but, how does lingerie support terrorism? From a female point of view, wearing pretty, sexy lingerie makes a lot of us feel sexier. MIght be worth your money guys!

Another female tip - doing ANYTHING that shows you remembered it was Valentine's Day and made an effort will earn you serious points, regardless of actual monetary value!

Great Twitter hook for your article, I'm still laughing!

Don't forget that making your own adult videos may have a cost down the road if they're not destroyed. Not for people who might seek public office someday, for instance. Or for people like my husband, whose teaching career might be damaged if someone found it.

Sounds like fun, though. :)

I feel weird even sharing this, but as I understand it, there is a lot of free full length pornography available on the Internet these days for the frugal customer. :)

When I saw the first tip about making our own cards, I honestly thought "oh no, standard tips" then I kept reading and I apologize for my initial reaction. I like your taste, funny but on target. Now I feel like our valentines day post is standard...
