Hmmm... I'm considering it. I currently have a student account at Bank of America, and I know they will start charging me at one point unless I set up direct deposit. My income isn't stable enough to guarantee direct deposit once a month, so I should probably look into a free checking account. And my mother has had Chase for about a bazillion years (although it wasn't Chase when she got the account) and swears by it.

I guess I have a month to think about it.

The cost of dealing with Chase and Washington Mutual is not worth the $100 to me. First off I've been a Chase "customer", car loan and credit card, in the past and they flat out sucked.

WaMu is even worse. A close friend had her identity stolen when WaMu mailed a replacement card to a different address based on a fake phone call "I'm on vacation and my card was stolen". She closed the account and ordered that no replacement cards were to be sent. Then they reopened the account and sent another card based on a TTD placed call without her permission. She got doubletalk from reps, called back and noone could confirm her conversations. Too much funny business to trust them with my money.

So, you'll understand why I'm going to pass on the $100. Maybe next time. Probably not.
