Chase is offering a $100 bonus if you open a checking account by July 7, 2009. There is no maintenance fee with this checking account as long as you activate a direct deposit or use your debit card for purchases five times each statement period. There is no minimum balance requirement, but an initial deposit of $100 within sixty days is required to qualify for the bonus.
If you live near a Chase branch, you can take this code with you when you open your account. Otherwise, you can open your account online at Chase’s website.
The coupon codes are good for one use only, so if you want to earn this bonus you must be quick to act.

Does anyone know if these promo offers can be used if you previously have had a Chase account (and a affiliate [wamu] account)?
I had a Chase account from fall 2005 until summer 2007 and a wamu account from summer 2007 until shortly after chase took it over, at which point I closed it.
Chris: According to the information I have, you would qualify for this $100 bonus.
Good idea I suppose for some; but banks turned me off in the 1980s and 1990s overcharging me over and over and over again. Opening an account in a S & L was a breathe of fresh air for me; not 1 error over many years now. Of course that meant direct deposit.
Opening an account at Chase would also require direct deposit I believe. I want to keep my S & L for savings, and have a separate checking account with Chase; BUT with direct deposit staying where it already is. I will miss the $100, but better safe than sorry by leaving direct deposit alone.
