Call 1800 829-0582 and push extension 462. This is the number I was calling. You actually get a real person who is actually knowledgeable.
Jan 20- Sent In my hub statement and 5405.
Feb 23- Everything was approved
Mar 15- Got my 8000 check in the mail

I closed on Dec 28, 2009 in Virginia. I see some have talked to agents every place I get is automated. Can someone help me with getting a contact phone for someone? I have not been waiting long but at the looks of all the responses it looks like I will be waiting a long time. So can someone please give me some insight on what I should do.

Finally…Filed October 13. Sent Suporting docs on my own Jan 5th (never recv letters from IRS),
got an Tax Advocated Feb 19th. Check will be mailed Mar 26th.
What a long, slow, miserable, frustrating road I’ve been own.
$8219 is what I’m getting which includes the TAXABLE interest they’ve tacked on.
Now I can do some repairs and save the rest for a rainy day.
Best wishes to those who are still going through the grind…this experiance has been a complete mess.

I just called and spoke to another person and she told me that my check will be sent to me and not direct deposit. She also said that it will be cut on the 26th with added interest of $299.14. I’ve been waiting since Aug 11th 2009. GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY!

I went the advocate route a week ago and they tell me I need a copy of basically everything that I sent in initially, the kicker is that the IRS NEVER told me they needed any more paperwork even though I called them countless times. 6 weeks!!?? Ha! Try 7 months and counting! I filed in August of last year and I have made COUNTLESS calls the the irs and I still dont have my refund or an explanation as to why! I did everything right and they keep telling me to “be patient”. The IRS is the biggest joke of an organization I have ever dealt with.

I just called the Irs and was told that my money will be direct deposit next week. Well the problem is I went to Jackson Hewitt last year and received a RAL. I no longer have that pre paid credit card that Jackson Hewitt gave me last year. So now I have to wait till it hits the bank and then be sent back to the IRS so they can cut me a check. This is crazy

On January 4, 2010, I posted on this website about my struggle with getting my check. After six months of waiting……………………..still NOTHING!!! I am not strapped for cash, but there are some repairs I would like to make to my house that there is really no reason to go in debt for. I call the IRS EVERY Tuesday and I am told a different thing every week. At one point someone told me that I was denied and then the next week they said they had made adjustments and now it is in a “holding pattern.” I know the IRS has to play it safe because they were getting people who made stuff up and awarded them a credit to find out that the name they used was phony. I am sorry, but that is the IRS fault. When I filed my amended return, I had all my loan paperwork, settlement statement, deed, everything I thought I would need. They ONLY needed the date I purchased the home, who I purchased it from, and how much I purchased the home…..gee….I wonder why they had people fraudulently scamming them. MAYBE IT’S BECAUSE THE IRS IS RETARDED. They should have required more info, and I know thats why they are being extra careful, but on the other hand, I don’t care, their “safety” isn’t my problem, they should have thought about that when they printed the forms for this credit. So after all of this bull, I have contacted my attorney and he put me in link with a tax payer advocate, which is basically a person that goes to the IRS and kicks them in their @$$ to get them moving. I am praying this is what gets it done. I don’t know why I expected this to go smooth from the get go because if there is one thing we all know about our government. This was a project set in place by republicans and democrats working together. In the FAMOUS words of Lewis Black, “There is only one thing dumber than a republican and a democrat, and thats when these pricks work together.” I wish you all better luck going through this because I have had it with this stupid run around. Update….I checked our account this morning and sure enough it was in there…the full amount! So, filing our 2009 taxes with the 8000 credit as part of it paid off!….and got our credit and our 2009 refund together in 5 weeks and 2 days…..thank you IRS.

So from my experience with this whole thing….filing with the 2009 taxes is the way to go! I am sure I am not the only one with these results. Good luck all.

well, back on May 7 of 2009, my information was received by the irs…. 10 months later…. still no check… though, our circumstances a little different from others i think, beings we’ve owned a house before and requalified, is why it’s taking so long for us. Tried the advocate route to no avail, so our tax preparer has been helping us. 1 more week and we should find out where we stand, hopefully anyways. Congrats to those that obviously didn’t have to wait nearly as long as us, and good luck to those that have just recently filed.

I file this credit with my 2009 return on Jan 24, 2010 and they still saying nothing. They did not start processing the 2009 returns with the credit until March 2, 2010. I have sent it in twice, first time forgot the proof of purchase and I sent that, they received that 3 days later, but they still have not received supposelly the second complete set, going to call today. I need repairs done on my house also.

Hi Gemma,

The 5405 form is new for 2010. I think the IRS was so backed up in the past because they were learning the system of the credit. I think things will start to speed up from here on. I sent my 5405 with my hub statement on jan 23. I called the IRS the other day and they said I was approved feb 23 and they check will be mailed out march 12. I hope this helps!

Update….I posted here in the beginning of the month – I said that I checked my status for my 2009 tax return online (I had to mail it in) at the four week mark and sure enough it said it was received, processing and I should receive my refund by April 6, 2010.

Today I checked again, one week later and it said that my tax refund is scheduled to be direct deposited on March 12, 2010. The amount listed is my full amount I was expecting – the credit plus our refund for 2009. So that is this Friday and I guess I will wait and see on Friday if it is there…..I will post back if it finally made it! I read other places that it was only a mailed check……interesting.

Just spoke to the IRS. Mailed in the information Jan 20 and approved Feb 23. Check is supposed to be mailed out on friday.

I was approved too with the help of my advocate I got approved on the 5th and my advocate said they only have the 19th and the 26th to have my check sent out. It still takes a week or 2 for the system to update and for them to make adjustments to the amend. So it shouldn’t be long for us to get it now. PS everybody else that is still waiting GET AN ADVOCATE

After mountains and mountains of bad news (wait a month, wait another month, wait another month, and so on), my taxpayer advocate is supposed to tell me tomorrow whether the IRS approved my credit. There is absolutely no reason for them not to approve it. I’ve had an advocate since the beginning of JANUARY and this is the second extension I’ve had to give the IRS since working with the advocate. I’m sitting at 34 weeks of waiting. ALMOST NINE MONTHS. I will update again with tomorrow’s news.
