JP Morgan Chase Bank is offering a $100 bonus for new customers who sign up for the Chase Checking account. If you are not a current customer of Chase, you can qualify for this $100 bonus with an initial deposit of $100 and by initiating a direct deposit or five purchases using your new debit card within 60 days. You will receive your $100 bonus 10 days after your direct deposit or fifth debit card purchase.
Like most account opening bonuses, the $100 is considered interest, so it will be reported to the IRS as interest income. You might owe taxes on the bonus as you would owe taxes on other interest earned in bank accounts.
Keep in mind that in order for this account to remain free, you have to abide by Chase Bank’s rules. Keep your direct deposit or make five debit card purchases each month to avoid a $6 monthly fee.
Also, if you close your account within six months, Chase will take the bonus back.

My spouse and I tried to open a checking account at our local Chase Bank last year, to no avail. We stood at the customer service desk for 15 minutes, and not one person came to ask us what they could do for us. Employees lounged around doing nothing (not all, of course), and if we caught an employee’s eye, the employee quickly looked away. We left when we realized nobody wanted our business. I will never open a checking account with that bank!
I’d had a checking account at WaMu, opened with $1 just to get a higher rate on
a money market account. Last month I got a mailing from Chase offering me $125
if I set up direct deposit OR used a debit card 5 times. Hey, for $125 I can get
five sodas with a debit card next 5 times I get gas….
Several years ago I took advantage of Chase’s $100 for opening a checking account
with direct deposit (from my ING acct.), then closed it after getting the $100. I’ve also
gotten and taken advantage of similar offers from Citi and BofA. I don’t think it’s good
business (for the banks), but if they wave money at me, I’ll take it.
I am looking for the code for Chase open an account with $100 and get $100 well I followed the link but never got the coupon code, I just figured if I followed the link I would automatically be enrolled for the program, but it turns out I need the code, I cannot find it and it expires the 16 of this month does anyone have the code?
