The FCC has decided to speed up the digital television requirement in order to make over-the-air radio frequencies available to be sold off to private parties. This will force people to buy new televisions or a converter for their old television at or before that time. Slashdot discussion here.

by Luke Landes

As Friday progresses, I’ll add articles and news I find interesting to this post. * Jim Jubak says there is no housing bubble. The first rule of Housing Bubble is you do not talk about Housing Bubble. His reasons: mortgage money is cheap (low rates), high prices are a result of inflation only, and consumer ... Busy

by Luke Landes

I apologize for the relative silence. I’ve been busy setting up two new blogs for people who contacted me asking to host for them, in addition to a new brand identity for some of the other random things I do online. This is, of course, on top of work and classwork.

Green Zapped

by Luke Landes

A while back, I opened an account with GreenZap, a supposed alternative to PayPal. At the time, they were offering a nice referral deal: spread the word and get $25 or something. Some were quick to refer others, but I didn’t want to recommend a service that had yet to be proven. JP at MyMoneyBlog ... Continue reading this article…

by Luke Landes

Chill, or chillout, is a “new” music genre gaining popularity. Will it save the world or will it just sell more products? CD101.9‘s contest features a Mercedes CLS, obvisouly the most chilled-out of sedans. In reality, chill is just repackaged adult contemporary, which changes its name every once in a while to attempt to appeal ... Continue reading this article…

Sell Gold, Pay Off Debt

by Luke Landes

Mark Cuban from Blog Maverick believes the country should sell its gold reserves in order to pay down national debt. This plan assumes that the amount of held gold reported actually exists in storage. It’s a safe assumption unless you’re a conspiracy theorist. Fort Knox would be an expensive operation if it was protecting nothing. ... Continue reading this article…

How To Feel Rich

by Luke Landes

Ben Stein has another good article in the New York Times. He tells a story of how his father taught him to feel rich rather than be rich. It’s a nice article with which to begin the work week. I’ll quote: I was on my way to another job. I got to the next stop ... Continue reading this article…
