As a NYC metro area resident, a lot of people have been pressuring me to jump in and at least buy a co-op somewhere. It's good to know that the lure of cheap rent isn't a wholly bad idea. I may not be building equity, but I am saving plenty for a down payment in a more reasonably priced area of the US. I loved reading this article yesterday.
