I love giveaways, but to tell you the truth, I really don't have use or desire for Quicken.  I'm sure someone else might love that, but I prefer books, as far as giveaways go.  Or amazon or target cards!  On the off chance that I get chosen for that prize, I really think it would be better going to someone who would love it.

I have been using DayTimers for a really long time.  Every penny that comes in or is spent from this household is logged.  I like doing it with pen and paper.  That topic about bank fees for overdrawn accounts makes me think that many people just don't pay attention to their money.  Some years ago, my husband got laid off and we went below the $500 minimum balance that kept our main checking account free.  Total panic for me, the anal-about-money member of this household.  The bank waived the fee upon request, and I gave in to the requirement for Direct Deposit to make the account free.  I never liked that idea, but now that we have it, I love it.

If you pay attention to your money on a daily basis, which you should, you don't have to worry about bank fees.  You always need a cushion, as well.  This isn't a problem for people who are comfortable having money.  I say that because my closest friends (and my credit union!) seem to be afraid of money.

I think there are enough users to make a Quicken giveaway somewhat attractive.  It is an expensive piece of software, and it requires updates every few years to maintain functionality, so I like the idea of giving it away.  I'll also have one copy of Quicken Home & Business to give away and I'm debating whether or not to give away Quicken Property Manager (don't know if there's enough interest).

I used to give away books more often... publishers are always happy to send them to me for promotion... maybe I'll move back to that.  Gift cards are probably good around now... maybe I'll do some Amazon.com gift cards.

If you have any suggestions for creative ways to give things away, feel free to let me know.

I love Direct Deposit. I wish all payments were made electronically. I don't like dealing with paper checks.
