Will you be spending more this year on gifts than last year or less?  Is the economic climate influencing your spending?

Much, much less, honestly.  Our cash flow situation is pretty poor with all of our money going toward finishing our basement.  I've allocated my blog's income from the last month or so to cover at least a modest Christmas.

We'll probably spend the same as last year, but we don't do Christmas gift-giving or celebrations in general.  If something comes up like an employer's holiday party or an extraordinary invitation that involves bringing a gift, we may do that.  I expect that due to the economy, there may be some especially great sales during or after the season.  That could cause us to shop, if there is something we could use.

My wife and just finished discussing this.

Maybe a little less but not due to any personal economic situations...in all truthfulness, our situation is pretty good.  We'll be spending less because we brought a condo last year; therefore, we have a mortgage.  After living in a rent-controlled apartment for 5 years and paying $525/month, the significantly higher mortgage was a bit of a shock to our system.  We want to get a bit more comfortable with it before we spend a lot of money on things.

As I tweeted, I expect my spending to be about the same. I've managed to control my spending this year, and my income has remained steady, so I see no need to change my spending habits for the holidays. I might wind up spending a bit less, as my friends and I may drop our Secret Santa exchange (more because of logistics issues than because of financial reasons).

I'm trying to spend less by shopping smarter and more practical. I'm also telling others to do the same for me!

Probably about the same. We get one big 'family' present, then a bunch of less expensive presents for the kids.

The wife and I don't get each other too much.
