At very short noticed, Quicken2005's ability to download bank updates was stopped and I was told to upgrade to 2009. I determined that Quicken 2009 cash management suited my purpose. I downloaded and paid $39.99.

In the process of installing it undeleted 2005.

My wife's folder open it fully and worked well. My folder  would not work. I was told that my Quicken 2005 had some features which were   not in Cash Management and that I must upgrade to Home and Business 2009 at an extra charge of $60.

The problem was the result of me trying with some of the "extra" features of 2005 but not finding them to my liking, never used them. Hindsight, I should  have deleted them.

As it was necessary for me to manage my money, without delay, I was then forced pay and extra $60 for features that I do not require.

I think that for Qucken to be fair, when it detected the  features, not in Cash Management, it should have given me the option of stayed with Cash Manage fully installed, without these features, or pay extra for an upgrade to get them.

I fell ripped of and would like to know is there anything I can do about this

Is "Cash Management" Quicken Starter Edition? I can't find any product called Quicken Cash Management.  I think you might be able to justify calling and asking for a refund. You might be able to find Quicken Home & Business 2008 in stores, still.  If so, you'll regain the ability to connect to banks.  And the software should be pretty cheap as the 2009 versions are out now.

Quicken's very clever in deactivating features after the software is a few years old. It's not a customer-friendly practice though, and until there's a rival software that offers better features that don't expire, they'll keep doing it.
