Gas Prices in Your Area

A number of people have emailed me (yes, it’s true!) to point this out so I thought I would share. It has been mentioned in other places, but I thought I’d share as well. MSN Autos offers a tool that allows you to plug in your ZIP code, press a button, and see a map of local gas stations with prices for regular unleaded, plus, premium and diesel where available.

The 20 closest mapped stations to my ZIP code range from $2.639 to $3.069 for regular. The Fuel Gauge Report from AAA says the national average is currently $2.900.

With gas prices so high, you start to hear various tips about increasing your car’s gas mileage. Don’t just take someone’s advice unless they’re an expert. Take this gas quiz from CNN to find the real answer to questions such as, “Does running the air conditioner save gas?” and “Is it better to start and stop the car or leave it running for short periods of time?”
