Update: This offer is no longer available

Many small businesses are successful in part due to smart use of credit early on. Although personal debt is bad, it can often make sense for a business to use credit, whether in the form of loans or credit cards. Some businesses do well when the owner has money to invest himself, but that isn’t always the case, and it’s not always possible to raise funds from investors. Businesses often turn to credit cards or charge cards. Chase is now offering a competitive small business charge card — the type of card that requires payment in full every month, unlike business credit cards — and is making the offer tempting by adding rewards. The Ink℠ Bold with Ultimate Rewards not only offers a way to earn bonus points but also an incredibly profitable rewards program.

To get you started you’ll earn 50,000 bonus points when you spend $5,000 in the first three months of card ownership. With the Ink℠ Bold with Ultimate Rewards, this translates to $500 in rewards of your choice, or $625 towards airfare when you redeem your points online through their Ultimate Rewards booking tool. In addition to the $500 in rewards, this card offers the opportunity to earn 5X points per dollar on the first $50,000 spent annually on eligible business purchases and these points are cumulative. In addition, the Ink Bold has a standard rewards program in which you earn two points for every dollar spent on airfare and hotel when you book your trip through Chase and one point for every dollar spent on all other purchases.

Because the Ink Bold is a charge card, any purchase you make will need to be paid off each month. There is no credit or spending limit, so this card offers extreme purchasing power for businesses. If you travel for business, you might enjoy the complimentary airport lounge access. Unfortunately, these benefits come at a price; this card carries a hefty $95 annual fee. This fee is waived for all first-year cardholders.

The 50,000 bonus point offer on the Ink℠ Bold with Ultimate Rewards is only available for a limited time, so if you are a small business owner interested in a charge card, consider completing an application today.

There will have to be no other credit cards left on earth before I will take one with an annual fee, no matter what the rewards.

That’s certainly understandable. The way I figure it, if you can get what you want or need without an annual fee, go that route. In some cases, an annual fee is required to take advantage of select services that aren’t available anywhere else — and if the rewards you receive exceed the amount of the fee, then it could be worthwhile. Card like that are definitely not for most people, though.
